I'm pleased to share our new publication in Frontiers in Psychiatry: Memory-focused therapy: an integrated intervention to reduce trauma symptoms, maladaptive cognitive processes, and emotional distress in Afghan youth This study presents the first evaluation of Memory-Focused Therapy (MFT), a 12-session intervention designed to help young people affected by war and chronic adversity. The therapy integrates trauma memory processing, emotion regulation, meaning-making, and future-oriented thinking to support recovery. Our findings suggest that MFT may reduce PTSD, depression, anxiety, and maladaptive cognitive processes while promoting resilience and post-traumatic growth among Afghan youth. I am deeply grateful to my co-authors for their collaboration: Zeinab Musavi, Sayed Abbas Sarwary, Delawar Khan Ebrahimi, Adam D. Brown, Justin Dainer-Best, and Laura Jobson. š Read the article: https://lnkd.in/e9fvTd9v I hope this work helps expand access to evidence-based, culturally responsive mental health interventions for conflict-affected populations worldwide. #MentalHealth #Trauma #PTSD #Psychotherapy #GlobalMentalHealth #Afghanistan #YouthMentalHealth #Resilience #FrontiersInPsychiatry #MemoryFocusedTherapy #MFT #Psychology #WarTrauma
