🤔 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀? 🔎 MDR WISSEN took a closer look in Saxony and visited our SaxoCell partner MDTB Cell Manufacturing GmbH. At MDTB Cells, mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are isolated from donated umbilical cord tissue, purified, expanded and frozen so they can be stored as a cell product for clinical use. The goal is to apply their ability to calm excessive immune reactions in severe inflammatory diseases, including sepsis, graft-versus-host disease and inflammatory lung complications in premature infants. 💡 This work is also linked to the SaxoCell project MSC-READY, coordinated by Mario Rüdiger at Technische Universität Dresden.
