How much screen time is too much for babies? A major new review suggests that screen time in the first 1,001 days of life (conception to age 2) may be associated with long-term risks to children's health, development, and quality of life. Researchers found links between early screen exposure and reduced parent-child bonding, less physical play, delayed language development, sleep difficulties, overstimulation, eye health concerns, and a higher risk of childhood obesity. Key message: passive exposure may be hard to avoid, but deliberate screen use for babies appears to offer little proven benefit while potentially adding risk. Importantly, the authors stress that parents should not be blamed; technology companies also have a responsibility to avoid promoting digital content as "suitable for babies" when evidence remains uncertain. https://lnkd.in/eHYdSgD2
