If I say 'influencer', what do you think of? Hip, young social media entrepreneur grifting for cash online? In remote rural areas, the 'influencers' that deeply impact people's lives are often people whose families have been there for generations. The depth to which some of these entanglements run through communities who now have to navigate new realities really struck me when covering a recent public meeting.
