Last week, I had the pleasure of participating in a Laboratory Skills Bootcamp run by Labcorp. It was a great opportunity to experience the standards and practices used in a real clinical research setting. Over the three day course, I developed a range of core laboratory skills and passed all of the theoretical and practical assessments related to them. These skills included: Good Documentation Practices - understanding the importance of accurately recording raw data and its role in maintaining integrity in scientific research Pipetting and Balances - developing hands-on skills and successfully completing a practical assessment on the accuracy of my technique ELISA - understanding the theory behind them and performing an assessed full mock clinical sample ELISA, which included data reporting and second person verification. Thank you to the team at Labcorp for a great programme and to the FBS Careers Team for the opportunity.
