In our working lives at Sappi, nothing is more important than staying safe. That’s why right across our regions we’ve just spent a whole month talking about the subject and celebrating Global Safety Awareness Month. Teams all across Europe have enthusiastically joined in with activities ranging from safety demonstrations and training sessions to webinars, competitions and quizzes. Our Alfeld Mill team introduced a new approach bringing safety even closer to employees this year: activity stations located along the main entrance were set up as easily accessible points of interaction and communication. "The best place to talk about safety and health is where the work actually happens,” says Ferdinand Koster, Mill Director of Sappi Alfeld. During this month’s festivities the mill received a well deserved Safety Milestone Gold Award celebrating reaching one million hours without a lost-time injury! It’s been a packed month, filled with finding ways to stay mindful of safety at all times and on every single day of the year. Because for each and every one of us at Sappi, “Safety starts with me.” What does “Safety Starts With Me” means to you?
