SOC teams keep naming the same problem: too many alerts, not enough context. The SANS SOC Survey 2026 (444 practitioners, 69 CISOs, worldwide) found 24% of security leaders now rank visibility as their top obstacle, ahead of staffing and automation gaps. Most teams already own the tools. Integrating what those tools report across teams is the gap. Two more findings: 59% of leaders believe the business understands real SOC staffing needs, versus 32% of staff. And 74% use threat intelligence for daily operations, but only 26% use it to inform budget decisions. Christopher Crowley, senior SANS instructor and the survey's longtime author: these patterns have held for ten years running. Full breakdown: https://bit.ly/4ycDrMO
