Vanguard in Medical Education and Global Diplomacy: My Experience at Karabakh University 🇦🇿🏥 ​The future of medicine and higher education demands a comprehensive vision, where cutting-edge technology and humanism converge. During my recent participation as a delegate at the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, representing IDESMULH—part of the Global South NGO Platform established in Baku in 2025—I had the privilege of traveling to Khankendi. There, I toured the facilities of the Faculty of Medicine at Karabakh University, guided by Dr. Mehmet Akman . ​With 20 years of experience working in direct patient care at a public general hospital in Honduras, alongside my trajectory in international relations, diplomacy, and international Master's degrees, I can immediately recognize when an institution is redefining the standards of global health. What I witnessed in this complex is a quantum leap into the future. ​Beyond their impressive 3D anatomical simulators for virtual dissection, the true heart of their innovation lies in their educational model. They utilize a "spiral" learning system where future doctors, from their very first year, are immersed in ethical research and the rigorous study of patient rights. They are not merely training health technicians, but true defenders of human dignity—values that strongly resonate with my mission as a coach and international speaker. ​The expansion of this complex is monumental: 🔬 An upcoming Oncology Center that will span over 5 hectares in a modern 10-story building. 🏥 Emergency departments and operating rooms about to be inaugurated, alongside specialized units for mental health and in vitro fertilization. 📚 Top-tier scientific research centers and academic infrastructure. ​Exchanging perspectives with Dr. Mehmet Akman reaffirms that sustainable urban development and global health go hand in hand.
