A new chapter in medical innovation is just beginning in Slovenia 🧪🔬 Today, Sandoz officially opened our new state-of-the-art biosimilar development centre in Ljubljana – a major milestone as we celebrate 20 years since launching the world’s first biosimilar. The fully digitally integrated USD 99 million facility will strengthen our global biosimilar network and help accelerate the development of high-quality, affordable medicines for patients worldwide. Covering around 10,000 m² and bringing together more than 200 scientists, the centre plays a key role in supporting what our CEO Richard Saynor describes as the upcoming “golden decade” for biosimilars, with around USD 320 billion in biologic patent expiries expected over the next decade. This new centre is also the first of three major investment projects contributing to our more than USD 1.1 billion investment in Slovenia, creating an end-to-end biosimilar hub in Europe.
