A critical new link for wildlife health π¬π¦ We are proud to celebrate the official opening of the Laboratory in Northern Kenya (LiNK), a new veterinary diagnostic facility designed to strengthen wildlife health infrastructure in one of the world's most biodiverse landscapes. LiNK will help bring faster, more accessible diagnostic capabilities to the veterinarians and rangers working on the front lines of conservation across northern Kenya. For years, biological samples collected from wildlife often had to travel long distances for testing, delaying diagnoses and treatment decisions. By bringing laboratory capacity closer to the field, LiNK will support quicker responses to injuries, disease outbreaks, and other emerging health threats. This will help to safeguard wildlife, livestock, and the communities that share these landscapes. The establishment of LiNK reflects the power of partnership. Developed through a collaborative effort between Kenya Wildlife Service KWS, Wildlife Research and Training Institute, San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance-Kenya, The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Northern Rangelands Trust, Rare Species Conservatory Foundation, and San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, the laboratory represents a shared commitment to continuing to advance science-based conservation across Africa. Through science, care, and partnership, LiNK will strengthen wildlife health systems, support biodiversity conservation, and help create a more resilient future for some of Earth's most iconic species.
