A new kind of grid control ⚡ As energy demand grows, a team at Sandia is advancing AI-driven controls that respond to fluctuations in electricity use in real time. Sandia’s approach uses hardware and capabilities already built into many grid-connected devices, enabling controllers to respond quickly to disturbances. The technology could strengthen power resilience and help protect critical defense and national security infrastructure during disruptions and attacks. “Our team wanted to deliver something that is powerful and intelligent, but also realistic for utilities to adopt,” Sandia engineer Rachid Darbali-Zamora said. “AI helps us make sense of all the moving pieces on a modern distribution grid and do it in real time.” Read more about how the work is moving from testing to deployment: https://bit.ly/3SQbD0r
