A glaring impact π Sandia scientists developed the Solar Glare Hazard Analysis tool in 2013, which is used by tens of thousands of customers each year to optimize the placement of solar installations and avoid creating a blinding glare. Fast forward to 2026, and the tool is now used in 140 countries, with an average of 20,000 solar glare analyses performed annually. Among the users are the 10 busiest airports in the world. This tool is one of three Sandia projects to win a Federal Laboratory Consortium Excellence in Technology Transfer Award this year.
