🎶 Did you know today is Ted Gehrke Day? 🎶 If that name sounds familiar, it should. Ted Gehrke was a beloved SJSU faculty advisor in the 1980s and one of the driving forces for what would become the Fountain Blues and Brews Festival right here in City of San José. After connecting with Fountain Blues Foundation President Suzanne St. John Crane and SJSU alumnus Dan Ross, we learned even more about the incredible legacy behind a festival that has shaped four decades of music history. What began as a small music festival in 1981 outside SJSU's Tower Hall has grown into a beloved tradition that has welcomed blues legends like John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy and countless other iconic performers. Want to learn more about the festival's roots and impact? Check out the story on the SJSU NewsCenter blog. And the music continues! 🎸🔥 The Fountain Blues and Brews Festival returns June 27 and 28, bringing another unforgettable weekend of live music, community and soul to San José. Get your tickets, explore the lineup and join the celebration at fountainblues.com.
