🎉 Yesterday, SFMTA Streets Director Viktoriya Wise joined D3 Supervisor Danny Sauter, Metropolitan Transportation Commission staff and our partners at Lyft for an exciting first! 🚲 We cut the ribbon on a new type of bikeshare station that’s located within a state-mandated “daylighting” zone. Through our new Safety Zone Program, we’re making these spaces work even harder for locals, visitors and business owners.  Our teams had already painted the curb red at Vallejo and Stockton. This helped people driving see everybody heading to nearby businesses and parks. ✅ By adding a bikeshare station there, we’re strengthening the safety impact of existing daylighting and keeping crossings clear by ensuring no vehicles park in the red zone. This means it’ll be even safer for people to cross the street – and even more convenient to bike to and from the neighborhood destinations. It also means we’re optimizing limited curb space.  Plus, bikeshare is proving incredibly popular, breaking a record in June of more than half a million trips! We’re thrilled to build on its success as we innovate with the city’s curbs.
