Quick update about our first few days at Kol Yisroel. Last week Wednesday we sat with a very large school in Monsey to see what are the major issues facing the schools and parents where we as a group can step in and advocate for parents on a "local" level...the largest issue was that the parents of NEW CITY in the Clarkstown Central School District were suffering terribly with bus routes....not to get too technical there are about 65-70 children that do not have proper bussing in the morning or the afternoon which is a absolute travesty! On Thursday we emailed State Assemblyman Patrick Carroll's office which represents the 96th assembly district asking for a meeting ASAP with parents to discuss the situation....thank you to the Assemblyman his office returned our call immediately and scheduled a meeting for December 17th...in the meantime we emailed the ENTIRE school board of Clarkstown Central School District twice asking for a meeting with the superintendent ASAP Dr. Marc P. Baiocco...still did not get a response from the superintendent yet but did get a response from the board president Tamara Bierker and from John Lavane that he would meet us. We also contacted local news organizations Monsey Scoop and Rockland Daily to let them know what is going on and now they will start reporting on it. This is the kind of advocacy we will be working on at Kol Yisroel day in and day out....with our group of young volunteers we will be making a difference one community at a time. Parents of Clarkstown school district DO NOT give up hope it's a NEW DAY!
