This #WorldOceansMonth, Samsung is celebrating its partnership with Seatrees and Scripps Institution of Oceanography which bridges science, conservation, and technology to preserve coral reefs across the globe. We are honoring the researchers, divers, conservationists, and storytellers working with us to help advance this important work every day. Check out some key moments from our partnership over the past year. One year ago, Samsung premiered #CoralinFocus, a documentary that explores how our partnership is helping improve outcomes for our oceans. Since then, we've received multiple awards for our contribution to coral reef conservation, including Gold in the "Best Sustainability or Conservation Initiative" category at Engage for Good's 2026 Halo Awards, the Coastal and Island Culture Award at the 23rd International Ocean Film Festival, and named to Fast Company's 2026 Most Innovative Companies list. We also had the opportunity to share this project with an audience of marine experts, including our very own #Generation17 Cohort 5 Young Leader Jose Francisco, at the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, France. Our project now spans 5 regions, including Costa Rica, Fiji, the Galápagos Islands, Indonesia, and the United States, with over 21,000 new corals being grown using #GalaxyOceanMode. Through the “Samsung x Seatrees: Bring Coral in Focus” initiative, partners and local communities are given Ocean Mode-equipped Galaxy devices and underwater housings to capture high-quality underwater imagery with Galaxy Ocean Mode, which is then used to generate detailed 3D photogrammetric models. This process improves how coral reefs are monitored and evaluated, resulting in critical insights into reef health and recovery. Galaxy Ocean Mode, now available through Expert RAW, enables high-quality underwater imagery with Galaxy devices and underwater housings for all Galaxy users. This opens a window into the often-unseen work of ocean restoration. Expert RAW must be downloaded separately from the Galaxy Store, for free, before use. Supported on select models.
