French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced on June 16th, 2026 that French company ChapsVision has been selected to replace the United States firm Palantir Technologies in handling large scale data processing for the Direction Generale de la Securite Interieure (DGSI), France domestic intelligence service. 🔍 The decision comes only six months after the DGSI renewed its Palantir contract in December 2025 for a further three years. Palantir, co-founded by Trump associate Peter Thiel and led by Alex Karp, has been providing data analysis software to the DGSI since the initial contract was signed in 2016, then renewed in 2019 and 2022, with French intelligence officials regularly describing the dependence on American technology as a temporary fix pending a credible national alternative. ChapsVision, which already won a first DGSI contract in 2024 for heterogeneous data processing, will now take over the exploitation of mass data and aspires to become a European leader in data intelligence. ⏭️ The move comes as European allies recalibrate decades of American dependence in security and technology under the second Trump administration. The German Bundeswehr has stopped using Palantir, the British National Health Service is reviewing its 330 million pound (382 million euro) contract with Palantir under parliamentary pressure, and London Mayor Sadiq Khan blocked a proposed 50 million pound contract between Palantir and the Metropolitan Police. 🎯 By rotating its most sensitive intelligence backbone from a politically exposed American vendor to a sovereign French integrator backed by a 655 million euro AI envelope, France operationalises the digital and AI autonomy doctrine that Paris has been articulating since the Mistral AI rise, the Filigran fundraising and the launch of the European AI gigafactories and positions ChapsVision as the European challenger in the data intelligence segment historically dominated by Palantir.
