Senegal's President Diomaye Faye Elected New ECOWAS Chairman Senegal's President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has been elected as the new Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, succeeding President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone. The announcement was made at the close of the 69th Ordinary Session of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, where President Bio described it as an honour to have led the regional bloc during his tenure. As the new chairman, President Faye will lead ECOWAS in addressing regional security, economic integration, and other key challenges affecting more than 450 million people across West Africa.
