Data isn't just about numbers; it's about understanding people, uncovering stories, and driving real-world change. Last month, colleagues from our Women in Sainsbury’s Data (WiSD) community came together with partners from Snowflake and Women in Data® UK for the very first WiSD Hackathon, spending the day diving deep into data to solve some of the most meaningful challenges facing our customers today. Teams were tasked with turning complex datasets into actionable ideas across five core themes: 1. Optimising Women’s Health Range: Looking closely at our offering to ensure we’re selling the right products at the right time and in the right places. 2. Ultra-Processed Food and High Fat, Sugar or Salt Trends: Mapping out where, when, and for whom we can most realistically and effectively support healthier food choices. 3. Women’s Health Products: Reimagining the retail experience to make shopping for women's health products simpler, more supportive, and more intuitive. 4. Postpartum Shopping Journey: Analysing how we can better anticipate and support the rapidly changing needs of new parents. 5. Menopause Support Basket Analysis: Using data to connect the dots and design a more relevant, empathetic, and connected shopping experience. From fresh perspectives on wellness to innovative algorithmic approaches, the solutions presented showed just how much impact a diverse data community can make. A massive thank you to everyone who brought their passion, curiosity, and expertise to the floor, and to Snowflake and Women in Data UK for helping us bring this inspiring day to life. ✨ #WomenInData #DataHackathon #SainsburysTechnology
