Noel Joughin, born on 25 December 1938, passed away on 15 June 2025 at the age of 86. He was a dedicated Member of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM) since 18 March 1968, achieving the remarkable milestone of 50-Year membership in 2018. He worked most of his life for the Chamber of Mines Research Organisation (COMRO) and then worked as a consultant for Turgis Consulting. He will be remembered fondly by colleagues and friends for his lifelong commitment to the industry.
