Recently I finished reading Soli Sorabjee: Life and Times – An Authorized Biography by Abhinav Chandrachud. The book covers the journey of Soli Sorabjee, former Attorney General of India, and one of the greatest names in Indian legal history. The biography takes us through his career of nearly seventy years at the Bar and his role in shaping constitutional law, protecting human rights, and defending free speech. What impressed me the most was his consistency in standing firm on constitutional values even in difficult times, and the humility he carried despite being regarded as a legal giant. For me, this book was not just about reading the life story of a jurist, but also about reflecting on the principles and ethics that guide our own profession. It reminded me that beyond the cases and the courts, our work as lawyers is also about upholding justice and contributing to society. I would recommend this book to every law student and practitioner who wants to understand the depth of our profession and the role we play in strengthening the system.
