Over the summer, I had the opportunity to return to Alvarez & Marsal for six weeks in the Private Equity Performance Improvement Team (PEPI), where I further developed my understanding of the firm's work across private equity, performance improvement, and transaction advisory. One of my first projects involved developing and presenting a Point of View (PoV) on a brick manufacturing company. Having completed a PoV during my previous time at the firm, it was rewarding to apply the feedback I had received and approach the project with greater confidence. A particularly valuable part of this experience was working across both commercial and operational due diligence on a live project. I supported the development of an Information Memorandum (IM) by analysing pages of company documentation to produce business overviews, assess competitive positioning, and evaluate overhead cost structures. A special thank you to Sevven Smith and Helena Boynton for their guidance and support throughout the project. Beyond work, I really enjoyed getting involved in the wider office culture. From playing in a cricket match to go-karting and attending the team offsite, it was a great opportunity to get to know colleagues across the team and build relationships outside of the day-to-day work. Finally, a huge thank you to Ilyaas Hassan for being such a supportive buddy, and to Ysabel Gaspar and Nicole Tan for organising such a valuable experience. I'm grateful to everyone at Alvarez & Marsal for making the six weeks so enjoyable.
