Raised on a beef and sheep farm south of Mount Gambier, our Regional Project Manager Jodie feels right at home supporting the South East communities she has a genuine connection to.   And it's something she's been doing for 20 years at SA Water.   “Working regionally enables me to strengthen this connection to the people who rely on our assets,” Jodie says.   Based within our Capital Delivery team, Jodie's often complex work sees her managing projects from water main replacements to improvements at our water and wastewater treatment plants.   She enjoys collaborating with our other teams, particularly Operations, a collaboration that “helps us do our job better”.   “Projects in conjunction with our Operations crews allow me to play a part in improving reliability and maintaining the levels of service we provide our customers - supporting my own community!”   The South East’s drinking water sources – which includes the Blue Lake and other smaller groundwater supplies – also add an intriguing angle to her work.   “I particularly like the bore renewal projects, as I work with a local hydrogeologist and our Water Security team to understand the source water, and drill a replacement bore,” she explains.   “We’ve delivered many bore renewal projects across the region to ensure security of supply for local towns, as well as replacing rock bolts and installing structural mesh at the Blue Lake with support from the Engineering team.”   But while Jodie's very much attached to the South East, she has had some unique journey's elsewhere – from teaching English in Japan to working with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Africa.   But Mount Gambier remains home.   “It's a good mix of natural beauty and good lifestyle - nothing beats finishing a workday, and going for a walk around the Blue Lake.”
