From cadet to leader, Customer Technical Services Coordinator Ben has accomplished a lot in his decade with SA Water in Mount Gambier. Starting out as a cadet within our Customer Technical Services (CTS) team, Ben found the program a refreshing change from his former career working for a drafting company. Our versatile CTS team operate across South Australia – among their jobs, you’ll see them undertaking water and sewer connections and extensions and lending their expertise to metering and billing investigations. Learning on the job – and completing an Engineering qualification – saw Ben quickly became enamoured with our organisation's core role of supporting communities. Ben soon moved into a Technical Officer role, before progressing further into a Senior Technical Role. He always comes back to one very simple quote that encapsulates our work. “I was told very early on that what we do here is very important – a human can last only 3 days without water, so providing safe, clean drinking water is critical,” he says. “It's a simple statement, yet one that reinforces what my team and I do day in and out.” Nowadays, Ben has recently been seconded into a Customer Technical Services Coordinator role, where he'll help lead our CTS teams throughout the South East region where he was born and bred. Though, like many of our people, during his time at SA Water, he’s got to spread his expertise across the state. “I’ve been fortunate enough to assist with some surveying and design on Kangaroo Island, allowing me to explore a new space – and work on some new projects.”
