8 million litres of water drained back into the River Murray in seconds! In a rare sight, a slow and steady release of water from the chamber of Paringa’s Lock 5 was safely undertaken last month, as part of major maintenance works. With a temporary cofferdam installed at either end of the 120-metre-long lock, the big drain has allowed our crews safe access to the base of the enormous concrete structure. This is so they can refurbish the site’s large hydraulic gates and 12 valves used to control water flow in and out of the chamber. Read more about the project: https://bit.ly/Lock5Drain
