My oldest son starts today at BJ’s Wholesale Club. He just graduated from college and lives at home, and he’s beginning in an entry-level position. I encouraged him to start at this level so he could listen, observe, and understand the business from the ground up, giving the company the opportunity to shape and mold him organically. Of course, it’s up to him to make the most of the opportunity learning the organization inside and out first, and then applying and continuing his college education as he grows. I’m incredibly proud of him, especially considering what his generation went through during the COVID era: no school sporting events, limited activities, and so much isolation that took a toll on mental health. To come out the other side and watch him start his journey feels good.
