The #humanities and arts are crucial to the future of R&D in UK - especially in the era of #AI. Getting to work closely with the CoSTAR National Lab team Royal Holloway, University of London over the last 6 months has been proof to me of how vital humanities and arts skills are for the #CreativeIndustries and any growth agenda. Convergent technologies are going to frame how we see and interact with the world. Every word, each gesture we make will give us a kaleidoscope of alternate possibilities and worlds sliding into view. But we’ve got the modelling and decades worth of expert skills in analysing this future already here in our Universities. Some may roll their eyes when I call out #Middlemarch and the multiple worlds of the Victorian novel (yet again!) as my evidence case. This time it’s not me the lit prof saying this though: this argument comes from those close up to designing that tech future and was my happy Friday evening read thanks to CoSTAR’s brilliant CTO Adrian (Ade) Woolard for sharing. https://lnkd.in/e7GuNRBY
