Five things marathon training taught me Michel Butter (that shaped how we built Ren) Across my career—11 Dutch championship titles, 2:09:58 marathon PB, and representing the Netherlands at the Olympics—I’ve spent thousands of hours on the road learning what it really takes to perform. The marathon doesn’t just test your legs. It teaches you. Here are five lessons I carry with me to this day: Focus on the process. You can’t control race day. But you can control your preparation.
