Five questions worth asking your Israeli aerospace supplier on the next call. None of them require travel. All of them surface information your standard status report won't. š. "šŖšµš¶š°šµ šš¼šæšø š¼šæš±š²šæš š®šæš² š²š š½š¼šš²š± šš¼ š® šš¶š»š“š¹š² š¼š½š²šæš®šš¼šæ ššµš¶š šš²š²šø?" The honest answer is rarely "none." The useful answer tells you where their continuity plan is thinnest. š. "šŖšµš®š'š ššµš² š¼š¹š±š²šš š¼š½š²š» š¶šš²šŗ š¶š» šš¼ššæ ššš š½š®š°šøš®š“š², š®š»š± ššµš š¶š š¶š ššš¶š¹š¹ š¼š½š²š»?" The age of the oldest item is a better indicator than the count. One item open for six weeks is a worse signal than ten items open for a week. š. "šŖšµš®š š®šæš² šš¼ššæ šš²š°š¼š»š±-šš¶š²šæ ššš½š½š¹š¶š²šæš šš²š¹š¹š¶š»š“ šš¼š ššµš¶š šš²š²šø?" Most milestone slips at the Tier 1 level start at Tier 2. A supplier who can't answer this hasn't checked. š. "šš³ ššµš² šš¼ššæš°š² š¶š»šš½š²š°šš¼šæ š®šæšæš¶šš²š± š§šš²šš±š®š, ššµš®š šš¼šš¹š± šÆš² šŗš¶ššš¶š»š“?" Forces a forward-looking gap analysis instead of a backward-looking status report. š±. "šŖšµš®š š±š²š°š¶šš¶š¼š» š®šæš² šš¼š šš®š¶šš¶š»š“ š¼š» š³šæš¼šŗ šš, š®š»š± š³š¼šæ šµš¼š š¹š¼š»š“?" Most of what slips at the supplier is actually waiting on the client. Suppliers rarely volunteer this. Asked directly, they answer. Try them on your next call. The answers will tell you more than the status slide will. #Aerospace #SupplyChain #SupplierManagement #Procurement
