Should every runner aim for a perfect Running Quality Score? A higher score can be useful, especially when it reflects progress in the right biomechanical area. But the score itself is only the starting point. For physios, the more useful question is: what does this score tell us about this runner? A lower score can help highlight biomechanical weakest links in impact loading, dynamic stability or symmetry. From there, you still need to interpret what is driving that outcome. That is where running style metrics, visual analysis, training context and the runner’s history come in. Two runners can have the same Running Quality Score and need a different plan. One may need better shock absorption. Another may need more stability under fatigue. Another may need work on asymmetry after injury. A useful score is one that helps you decide what to train next with your client as a physio.
