Shaping Strategy | Driving Growth | Leading Change
Geopolitics is ultimately about people… This joint initiative between the IPDAL and g7+ (Group of Seven Plus) once again confirms that international relations, diplomacy, and sustainable development begin, above all, with people. It was a privilege to share these moments with Xanana Gusmão, a central figure in the struggle for the independence and self-determination of the Timorese people, former President and current Prime Minister of Timor-Leste. A man whose serenity, coupled with an ever-present sense of humour, is as remarkable as his life journey, and whose vision of the world remains deeply rooted in the values of peace, human dignity, and citizen-centred development. As he often reminds us, the very foundation for resolving conflicts begins with a simple principle: “Ask people what they want”, self-determination as a cornerstone of peace And one of the most enduring messages remains as relevant as ever: there can be no peace without development; and no development without peace. A special word of appreciation to the entire IPDAL team: to Vitaliy for the excellent moderation, and to Sophie, Catarina, Inês, Afonso, and Miguel, all genuinely committed and highly competent in building bridges #Diplomacy #Peace #Development #InternationalRelations #Geopolitics #Leadership #Dialogue #PeaceThroughDevelopment
