WORLD CHAMPIONS! 🇦🇺💛🏆 The Australian Women’s 7️⃣s team is on top of the world after defeating New Zealand in the final in Bordeaux to be crowned HSBC SVNS World Champions for 2026. Following a thrilling win in Valladolid last week, the Aussies entered the final tournament of the season with a two-point advantage over the Black Ferns - and a 26-19 victory in the decider at Stade Atlantique Bordeaux Métropole propelled Australia to the title. Maddison Levi was named Player of the Final after returning from a knee injury on the final day to score two tries and execute a huge defensive play to secure victory over New Zealand. The tournament victory in Bordeaux was Australia’s first World Championship win since taking out the SVNS Grand Final in Madrid in 2024. 🦘Player of the Final Maddison Levi said: "It’s pretty surreal, I think the girls playing the first four games of the tournament leading up to the final was just a momentum builder. "They helped me get back and I wouldn’t be here without them. We spoke before the game that it’s been our most consistent season and we’ve been in every final. "Win or lose in that game we’re building as a program, creating depth and to go out and beat an amazing New Zealand side … it’s always hard when we play them. No matter when we beat them it’s always a tough game." 🦘Co-Captain Isabella Nasser said: "We have an amazing squad at home and the depth of our program is unbelievable. "We saved the best until last in regards to our performance and to be able to perform at the crunch time in the World Championship is really important to us. "I’m just really proud of the girls and how they showed up." 🦘Head Coach Tim Walsh said: "The two most consistent teams going head-to-head for the title but I thought in the end our big game players all stepped up and the depth in our program means we have more than one player capable of turning a game at any moment. "It was a collective effort from everyone here and back home who has been part of our squad and our program is only going to get stronger next season." 🥇🏉🌏 Report: https://lnkd.in/es64NPDi
