Late last year, the UK announced plans to make reselling tickets above face value illegal. I get the frustration behind it. But banning resale doesn't make the underlying problem go away, it just pushes it somewhere darker. I wrote a guest commentary for MusikWoche on what I think actually works: capped prices (max 20% above face value in Germany for instance), verified sellers, fees visible upfront, and secure transfers. This is the model that we've run at TicketSwap for 13 years now. The part that I care deeply about: organisers aren't bystanders in resale. When they're part of the system, resale becomes predictable. Fewer empty seats, better audience insight and tickets that end up with real fans instead of in shady channels.
