The consumer purchase journey is no longer a straight line from intent to checkout. As Jaysen Gillespie explains, it's a complex cycle of browsing, researching, and pausing. Our recent study revealed a core reality for 2026: 78% of shoppers now evaluate three or more options before making a purchase. Even for low-consideration items, more than half of consumers visit a website two or three times before they consider buying. More happens before the transaction than ever before: higher engagement, deeper research, and “add to carts” that don’t immediately convert. For marketers, this means the strategy must shift.
