RSL NSW raised directly with Minister for Veterans' Affairs and Defence Personnel Matt Keogh questions from the Defence and veteran community about recent changes to allied health arrangements, including the introduction of a $5,000 annual threshold before additional approvals are required. RSL Australia and RSL NSW have long advocated for an increase to the DVA fee schedule for allied health services to ensure veterans can access quality treatment from a broader range of providers. RSL NSW therefore welcomes the Government’s significant investment in increasing allied health fees — the first major increase in more than two decades. Speaking with RSL NSW yesterday, Minister Keogh reaffirmed that the new arrangements are not designed to prevent veterans with genuine clinical needs from accessing additional care. Veterans who require allied health support beyond the threshold will continue to be able to access treatment where clinically necessary. RSL NSW welcomes this assurance. We will continue to monitor the implementation of these changes closely, listen to feedback from veterans and health providers, and engage constructively with Government to ensure the system delivers what matters most — timely access to the right care, at the right time.
