I have written an article about the hidden mathematics behind periodic cicada species. The article delves into ideas about math in number theory, history of math, philosophy of math, biomathematics, modeling of biological processes, culminating in a full explanation, analysis, and discussion of a 2001 study which attempted to mathematically model the evolutionary process of a prime numbered population peak period similar to that of the cicadas. There are other mathematical minds than our own, and the beauty of biology is that it is the discovery of the universe, not from material cosmic dust, but of the living dust that is us, and in us. If you're interested in insects, biology, math and their intersecting then you will no doubt enjoy this short read. https://lnkd.in/eVDx6237
