There is no single way to observe Matariki. Each iwi and hapū holds their own kōrero, so take time to learn the Matariki/ Puanga/ Puaka traditions of your local mana whenua. However you choose to mark it, the kaupapa remains - remembering those who have passed, giving thanks and looking ahead. At its heart, Matariki is about: • Whakamaumaharatanga (remembrance) • Aroha and Manaakitanga (care for one another) • Kotahitanga (coming together) • Tohatoha (sharing) • Mana Tāiao (caring for our environment) Take a moment to connect to people, to place and to the stories of your rohe. How are you and your whānau going to celebrate Matariki? Share your comments below. Mānawatia a Matariki. #MānawatiaMatariki #MatarikiHerengaWaka #RNZCGP
