When we think about sustainability, throwing plastic into a bin is often the first thing that comes to mind. Relying solely on the idea that “recycling is enough to save the environment” skips a much bigger conversation. The truth is, recycling is actually the third step in the waste management hierarchy for a reason. While it plays a critical role in managing waste, the process itself still consumes massive amounts of energy, water, and vital resources, and unfortunately, not all materials placed in a bin end up being recycled. To make a true environmental impact, we have to look at the full picture 1. Reduce: The most powerful choice. Buy and consume less from the start to minimize demand. 2. Reuse: Extend the life of your products and materials as long as possible. 3. Recycle: Turn to processing only when an item can no longer be reused. This World Environment Day, let’s shift our perspective. True sustainability isn’t just about managing our waste better, it’s about changing how we consume in the first place. What is one small way you can Reduce or Reuse in your daily routine this week? Let us know below! Happy #WorldEnvironment Day
