The Royal Irish Academy is delighted to announce that four projects will be supported under the Nowlan Digitisation grant scheme for 2026. This year Frances Nolan will be undertaking a digitisation project entitled “The Court of Claims: The Registers’ Minute Books in the Records of the Trustees for the Irish Forfeitures, 1700-03”, Katharina Becker will be digitising aerial photographs from Laois, Kildare, Dublin and Louth as part of “AERIAL-SCAN: Aerial Exploration and Record of Ireland’s Archaeological Landscapes-SCANning the CUCAP Archive”, David Stone will be expanding on the digitisation of “The Irish Stone Axe Project (ISAP): Enhancing Access and Reuse through Digital Expansion and 3D Modelling” and Catherine Porter will be continuing her work on “Digitising the Abstracts of principal lines of spirit levelling in Ireland”. All these projects will involved the digitisation of a historical or archaeological source or sources or the updating of existing digital historical or archaeological resources to enable continued online public access. In addition all projects will be submitted to the Digital Repository of Ireland to ensure long-term preservation and access.
