‘I believe in advocating for the humanities as subject areas that foster critical and historical thinking alongside linguistic, aesthetic and affective sensibilities.’ – Anne Fuchs, 2025 Royal Irish Academy Gold Medal – Humanities The Royal Irish Academy (RIA) currently seek nominations for the 2027 RIA Gold Medals until 4 June 2026. One RIA Gold Medal will be awarded in the Humanities, and one will be awarded in the Chemical, Mathematical and Physical Sciences to individuals who have made a demonstrable and internationally recognised scholarly contribution in these fields. The Gold Medals celebrate outstanding scholars whose achievements not only reflect excellence but also show what is possible for future generations.
