“One of the questions I get asked a lot - working for an organisation that has been running for over 90 years now - is how relevant is the Flying Doctor in this day and age? And my answer is... Australia hasn’t gotten any smaller.” For a near thirty years RFDS pilot Craig Nethery has combined two great passions: aviation and transporting country Australians to the health care they need. From WA to NSW and now Victoria’s Hangar 85 at Essendon Fields - providing a ‘mantle of safety’ is more than a phrase left to Flying Doctor history books for this skilled pilot; rather it’s a decades-long commitment to supporting those who live and work in remote, rural and regional Australia.
