Haven’t found any good summer reading yet? Looking for something that stimulates your curiosity, sparks your creativity, and perhaps even makes you want to rerun your analyses just to see what happens? Then you are in luck. The latest issue of European Sociological Review has arrived, packed with fascinating articles. Among them is a paper that essentially argues that the much-discussed U-shape in life-course happiness does not exist, instead it is a methodological artefact. Instead, the apparent increase at older ages reflect, in part, the fact that the unhappiest individuals are no longer around. A contribution by Fabian Kratz and Josef Brüderl. Or why not catch up on the new index everyone seems to be talking about? Yes, I am talking about the Occupational Earnings Potential (OEP). The paper introducing the logic behind OEP, written by Daniel Oesch, Katy Morris, Oliver Lipps, Erik Bihagen and myself, is sure to spark discussion among anyone interested in social stratification and labour markets. So your summer reading is secured. Just download, read, and enjoy (and perhaps even rerun some of your previous analyses... 😉 ) https://lnkd.in/dEPFgMTr https://lnkd.in/dwekdAey
