I have completed my year in industry within the corporate sustainability team at Reckitt! 🥳 Over the year, I worked primarily on Scope 3 carbon and water, before transitioning to Green Chemistry for the final quarter. Gaining exposure to everything from carbon accounting and sustainability reporting to chemical sustainability and emerging regulations. Some highlights included: - Translating complex carbon accounting methodologies into business insights including scope 3 category inclusions, biogenic carbon and mass balance. - Supporting a fast paced Scope 3 reporting season working with external consultants and assurance teams. - Learning how to use PowerBI to provide data insights - Developing a new process for Green Chemistry assessments - Analysing wave 1 CSRD reports to understand how companies are approaching substances of concern. - Raising over £12,000 for charity alongside the other placement students. The biggest lesson I’ve taken away is that sustainability isn’t just about understanding the science-it’s about turning complex technical information into tangible business insights which can drive change. A huge thank you to everyone at Reckitt, particularly Emily Poole and Scott Burton, who supported me throughout the year. I’m excited to take these experiences into my final year at university and continue working towards a career in sustainability.
