Dementias Platform Australia Manager @ UNSW | R, Python, SAS
Wrapping up my second AAIC — what an incredible week in Toronto! #AAIC25 A heartfelt thank you to Sarah Bauermeister PhD CPsychol AFBPsS and John Gallacher (PhD AFBPsS CPsychol FFPH) from Dementias Platform UK — there wouldn’t be a Dementias Platform Australia (#DPAU) without your generous support and guidance. It was truly wonderful to reconnect in person. Looking forward to seeing you again at #AAIC26 in London! To the amazing team from Gates Ventures and Alzheimer's Disease Data Initiative — Niranjan Bose, Matthew Clement, Caitlin McHugh, Graham B., Manny McBride, @Saby, and more — thank you for building something so impactful with a small but fierce team. I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to demo #DPAU at your booth, and for the kind, insightful conversations you took time to have with me despite a packed schedule. Jen Mooney, I absolutely loved your GRIP demos and appreciated your project management tips. I’ll be in touch soon to talk about collaboration logistics as discussed! Varsha Krish, I’m in awe of the incredible work coming out of #GNPC, what a session yesterday, and even more to come! And yes, Scientia Professor Perminder Sachdev is keen to contribute proteomics data and be part of this important initiative. Let’s talk soon! Caitlin Finney, your presentation was fantastic, even for someone with limited genomic knowledge like me! A showcase of the insights we would gain from #GNPC. Given the geological convenience, it would be amazing to host your talk at UNSW Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA). It was also a proud moment to see Scientia Professor Henry Brodaty present #MaintainYourBrain - a standout study that was cited in multiple sessions at #AAIC25. I am excited to help make the data available through #DPAU once it's ready. A special mention to the World Young Leaders in Dementia (WYLD) session, where we had honest conversations about data sharing perceptions, experiences and the barriers dementia researchers face globally. This year, I had the chance to present my app GLADSE at the poster session — a tool designed to make global dementia research data more findable and accessible with rich metadata. I’ve written a short article reflecting on the experience and the tool — feel free to check it out here: https://lnkd.in/guDMC47G And of course, thanks to my colleagues Susanne Roehr and Suraj Samtani from CHeBA. Such a pleasure❤️. It's been a privilege to attend the Alzheimer's Association®International conference. Thank you to everyone who made #AAIC25 such a rewarding experience. Till the next time - #AAIC26 in London!
