This week at Google I/O, Google quietly announced the biggest change to search in 25 years: Search is no longer about retrieval, it’s now about recommendation. For decades, the internet worked like this: You searched, Google returned links, and you did the work. Now? You ask a question and Google does the work for you. And that was the real message behind their AI Mode and Deep Search. In simple terms: Its no longer “here are 10 websites” but “here’s the answer, and the sources, and here's what to do next” And this changes the visibility game for every B2B brand, because the question is no longer "how do we rank #1" its now "how do we get recommended by AI in queries about our category" So the take away for B2B marketing teams, is to optimise for being cited, being understood, and being associated with your category by an LLM (ChatGPT, Google Overviews, AI mode, Gemini etc. Btw shoutout to Hristo Butchvarov for the comment that made me and the team giggle today, funny guy!
