🇮🇹 ACCADDE OGGI A ROMA Il 19 Aprile 1689 muore Cristina di Svezia, che ormai da più di trent'anni viveva a Roma nell'attuale Palazzo Corsini. Personalità complessa ed anticonformista, suscita grande scandalo quando nel 1654, nel pieno di una profondissima crisi religiosa, si converte al cattolicesimo e abdica in favore del cugino Carlo Gustavo. A Roma si occupa di opere caritatevoli, di arte, musica e teatro in un movimento culturale che, dopo la sua morte, porta alla fondazione dell'Accademia dell'Arcadia nel 1690. 🇬🇧 ON THIS DAY IN ROME On April 19th 1689 the Queen of Sweden Christina, considered one of the most learned women of the XVII Century, dies. She is fond of books, manuscripts, paintings, and sculptures, having an interest in religion, philosophy, mathematics and alchemy. She causes a scandal when she decided not to marry, abdicating her throne and converting to Roman Catholicism.
