We were proud to headline the UK Global R&D and Science Investment Summit last week, joining senior leaders from Government, industry and academia from around the world to discuss how innovation drives growth, resilience and prosperity. Across three Industrial Strategy panels focused on advanced manufacturing, defence and clean energy, we discussed the strengths that make the UK a world-class destination for science, research and investment. The discussions reflected the breadth of our contribution to the UK’s current and future industrial future - from collaboration between industry, Government and universities, supported by our £2 billion investment in the UK supply chain and partnerships with 23 UK universities in early-stage research, to the UK’s distinctive advantage in defence and importance of exports, reflecting global demand for British capability and expertise. Our colleagues also highlighted the role of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology in supporting the clean energy transition, building on Rolls-Royce SMR’s recent successes in the UK, Sweden and Czech Republic. As one of the UK’s leading champions for manufacturing, we are committed to turning research, investment and collaboration into long-term industrial capability, supported by strong regional supply chains, SME collaboration and long-term university partnerships. Thank you to Alan Newby, Director of Research and Technology, Tom Burgess, SVP – UK MoD Business Development, and Sophie Macfarlane-Smith, Head of Customer Engagement, Rolls-Royce SMR, for representing us across the summit and contributing to discussions on how innovation, investment, collaboration and public-private partnerships can help keep the UK at the forefront of global aerospace, defence and clean energy. #ScienceSummit26 #LondonTechWeek #InvestUKScience
