A look inside the Rolls-Royce Electronics Center in Friedrichshafen, Germany. Electronics control key engine functions from fuel injection and turbocharging to exhaust gas recirculation. Without them, operating our high-performance engines with the required precision and reliability would hardly be possible. At the Electronics Center, electronic assemblies are manufactured, inspected, and quality-assured. One important step in this process is SMT inspection (Surface Mount Technology). Using advanced AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) and AXI (Automated X-Ray Inspection) systems, printed circuit boards are checked for correct component placement, solder joint quality, potential damage, and contamination. This helps ensure that every assembly meets our high quality standards.
