In 2017, Joie Lou embarked on a road trip that would define their calling — shepherding stories from often-overlooked communities into the world. What began as an opportunity to document their coming-out story became the seed that sowed #ComfreyFilms, a film training program and production studio designed to launch Black Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming, and Intersex (TGNCI*) storytellers into independent filmmaking, while telling stories woven at the intersection of being Black and TGNCI*. 🎬 Shifting Systems Initiative Fellow Grace Anderson (The Lupine Collaborative) explores how Joie Lou is ensuring that present and future generations can hold onto Black trans history and legacy in our latest blog post. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eA5Z_3rK
