At the WTUI 2026 Conference in Long Beach, California, from 7-10 April, Steve Egelhoff spoke about why we reformulated FYREWASH® F2 and what we are seeing in the field. The original formulation delivered excellent cleaning performance, but changes to transport regulations around terpinolene and increasing concern around glycol ethers meant it was time to take a fresh look. The reformulated FYREWASH® F2 removes both ingredients and replaces them with a sustainable plant-based grease cutter and advanced surfactants. What was interesting from the discussion was that this was not just an environmental improvement. Operators continue to tell us that rinse time can be one of the biggest challenges during an offline wash. In some cases, sites are diluting detergent further just to try and control foam, often at the expense of cleaning performance. The reformulated FYREWASH® F2 was designed to tackle exactly that: • Faster foam breakdown and quicker rinsing • Small bubbles for longer blade contact time • No ADR classification for transport • Reduced odour • Proven field results, including up to 5-6MW recovery and rinse times reduced by hours on some units One of the most interesting points Steve raised was that flow rate is not the only factor affecting foam. Drain piping, bends, drops and the amount of air in the route to the sump can all have a major effect on what operators see during rinsing.
